In the spirit of short-form Medium experimentation, I’ll be posting, over the course of the month, 20 ideas for how to extend, improve, and deepen a core curriculum — essential skills for K–12, for high school, for college, for life.

These topics go beyond reading and writing, math and science. Some can be (and are, to degrees) incorporated into existing curricula; all, in my opinion, deserve greater emphasis in classrooms and beyond.

From digital media and communication, to data and experimentation, to stories, systems, and design: stay tuned for a vision of the many things we may not learn in school, but that we all need to know.
