EMNLP 2020 Moved Entirely Online; Postponed One Week
The Conference on Empirical Methods in Natural Language Processing (EMNLP 2020), previously scheduled for this November 8 to 12 in Dominican Republic, will be held entirely online from November 16 to 18 due to the worldwide spread of COVID-19, organizers announced today.
The submission deadline for long and short papers has been extended from May 11 to June 1, and the notification of acceptance date is Sep 14.
The organizers tweeted that they changed the dates to “accommodate the authors in these stressful times,” and they “will take steps to ensure there is as much virtual social interaction as possible.”
The EMNLP is a leading conference in the area of Natural Language Processing (NLP), organized by the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL) special interest group on linguistic data. It invites submissions of long and short papers on substantial, original, and unpublished research in empirical methods for NLP.
The EMNLP 2020 organizers say the conference will cover a broad range of technical topics, including computational social science and social media, dialogue and interactive systems, discourse and pragmatics, information extraction, question answering and more.
The digital migration of machine learning conferences will continue for the foreseeable future, with organizers around the globe working on novel ways to make the virtual gatherings more interactive and productive.
