Three months after Chinese Internet giant Baidu announced that COO Qi Lu will step down in July due to “personal and family reasons”, Lu today unveiled his new adventure: Chief Executive Officer of Y Combinator China.

Bloomberg News reported that “YC will start its program in China as soon as next summer.” “Lu will lead the program, which will be called YC China and will be similar to the U.S. approach, though there may be tweaks to fit the Chinese market.”

A renowned Chinese software executive and engineer, Lu joined Baidu last year as COO and led Baidu’s fully-fledged effort in AI. Previously he was the Executive Vice President at Microsoft.
