Landing AI Names Gopi Prashanth New VP of Engineering
AI Guru Andrew Ng announced today that Gopi Prashanth, formerly the Director of Technology for Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence at Amazon Go, is joining Landing AI as VP of Engineering.
Gopi has built teams at some of the world’s leading technology companies. At Amazon, his teams were responsible for the core Computer Vision, AI and Data Science systems that laid the foundation for the “Amazon Go — Just Walk Out” experience. At Microsoft Bing, he spearheaded the engineering that transformed cloud computing by augmenting CPUs with an interconnected and configurable FPGA layer.
Gopi will work across both of Landing AI’s businesses, AI Solutions and AI Transformation, to oversee Software Development and Applied Sciences teams, set research and engineering direction, and scale the business.
Ng told Synced, “Amazon Go is one of the most amazing recent AI products launched by any company in recent memory, and Gopi had built the AI that powers Amazon Go. We think he is one of the unsung heroes of AI, and we’re thrilled to have him join us. He also brings a lot of knowledge about retail, though we don’t have concrete plans to enter retail yet.
“Landing AI is currently working on projects spanning manufacturing, agriculture, and healthcare. We are also looking into other sectors, including education. AI is transforming multiple industries and Landing AI is working to help multiple companies and industries adopt AI. We are confident that Gopi’s expertise will help Landing AI’s efforts in all of these industries.”
