Ever since we updated the strategy Athena on Litecoin and other top coins in the market I wanted to share the detailed back-testing results with all our users so that they are aware of what to expect in the future.

Here’s how the strategy has performed on Litecoin (LTC) between December 2017 and August 2022.

Highlights

  • 50% Net Profit
  • 75% Max Runup
  • -86% HODL return
  • 28 Trades
  • 50% Profitable

It may be difficult to comprehend the 5 years’ worth of data at a glance, with no real understanding of what really happened. Thus below I have broken it down into 3 smaller time frames to make it more insightful. Let’s see:

December 2017 — December 2019

Litecoin was launched around the $300 mark after which it continued through a downhill journey for about a year to reach levels even below $30. Although it did go through a recovery phase & reached the $140 mark but could not sustain itself and again fell to $40 levels.

During this 2-year period that largely remained bearish involving 1 major recovery let’s see how our strategy, Athena performed on LTC.

  • 8 Trades
  • 37% Profitable
  • 27% Max Drawdown

At the end of 2 years, a $1000 initial capital would have become $925. Here are the trades:

January 2020 — December 2020

Although started with mild recovery, LTC quickly came down to $40 levels. From here it largely remained flat throughout until towards the end when it entered the bull run reaching up to the $170 mark.

Let’s see how Athena performed on LTC during this 1 year period involving a bull run.

  • 10 Trades
  • 60% Profitable
  • 11% Max Drawdown

At the end of this 1 year, a $1000 initial capital would have become $2133. Here are the trades:

January 2021 — August 2022

This period started with a bull run taking LTC to $400 levels after which a sharp decline brought it down to the $100 mark. A mild recovery followed but was short-lived and soon changed into a bearish phase seeing LTC trading around $50 levels.

In this period involving 1 bull & a bear run each with intermittent recovery, Let’s see how Athena performed on LTC:

  • 10 Trades
  • 50% Profitable
  • 26% Max Drawdown

At the end of this period, a $1000 initial capital would have become $760. Here are the trades:

Conclusion

Athena is one of the top strategies if they want to avoid the high volatility of Litecoin and choose a more smoother road to their crypto investments.
Athena is LONG ONLY, and doesn’t use leverage. Works on SPOT Market thus relatively lower risk.
