Y was ‘angered’ that LinkedIn asked her if she would like to add her pronouns. How dare they!

“I don’t care if you call me she, he, or it,” she claimed. “Shouldn’t it just be about respect?”

Yes, yes it should. THAT is what adding pronouns is about — normalization and respect. It’s not FOR you (cisgender majority), it’s so you can support those NOT like you.
