So this week we hosted our second London Dribbble meetup at The App Business, but this time in our brand new studio in King’s Cross London. Our first opportunity to showcase our new home to the local Dribbble community, it was such a pleasure to throw open the doors, and watch our space fill up with great people and great conversation.

Preparation

It was relatively straight forward to prepare the meetup thanks to the awesome community and the good people at Dribbble HQ. I have to thank Alison for sending me all the swag we gave away and pointing me in the direction of Nvite. We used this to set up the sign up page for the event, and it scored big points with our marketing team at TAB.

We also persuaded two awesome speakers to join us for the event and thanks to the support of our founders, we certainly weren’t going to be short on either beer or pizza. Throw in a PS4 and Sega Mega Drive, and we were well on our way to having a cool event going!

To help promote the meetup and the London scene, I was interviewed by Susanna Baird for Pep Rally: London. This interview, and together with spreading the word on the socialz, we got some pretty good stats on our sign up page with about 3,000+ page views, 90ppl on the guest list and another 60 on the waiting list (sorry everyone that didn’t get in! 😭).

The Event

Did I mention we had two awesome speakers? First up was the Kickpush team led by Alex Deruette who told us about their journey so far and how they use Dribbble as a platform for profile building and getting new business. They were followed by the awesome Michael Flarup who had landed just hours before, direct from Copenhagen. He brought his trademark enthusiasm as well as a brand new 80's themed talk on app icon design.

It was great to see a lot of new faces meeting some of the design scene regulars, hearing them trade stories and advice as well as taking each other on at Mortal Kombat or Rocket League on the consoles! ⚽️🎮💥 For our giveaway we had ‘sold out’ Dribbble yo-yos at hand to give to the best “emergency selfies” posted on twitter! Check out the winners:

Thank you for being a good sport guys!

Thank you everyone that braved the September rain ☔️ and came hang out with us. Thank you so much to the speakers and everyone else that helped put the event together.

See you all on the next one!

We loved hosting the event and would love to do it again. If any of the attendees have feedback just let us know on Twitter and next time we’ll make it even better!
