We have already mentioned the amount of details found inside the art of our illustrator Ivan Cavini.
He dedicated the same care to the artwork of Warchief Luathan as well, creating one of the most visually compelling images for our game Barbarians: the Invasion.

Warchief Luathan

Luathan is a tall, slender and nimble Warchief, probably closer to a valiant knight than a savage barbarian. He honours the gigantic, resilient and powerful bear god Urgus, and the growling bear behind his shoulders is not a coincidence. It’s a beast extremely hard to tame, but Luathan managed to gain his trust and now it’s always beside him on the battlefield.
The origin of his name is uncertain, but rumours say it can be tracked down to a fusion of the Scottish Gaelic words “luath”, which means fast, and “mathan”, which translates into bear.

Can you recognize the axe and the armour?

The pose of the Warchief is not casual, and our talented Ivan chose it to pay homage to the historical drama television series Vikings. If you are a fan of it, the axe will look familiar as well, since it has the same shape of the one used by Floki.
The armour Luathan is wearing has a special origin as well, but we leave the pleasure to find out where it comes from, to you.

Think that the details are over? Well, look close enough, and you might find another familiar face in the artwork leading the cavalry. One of a very famous actor that greatly contributed in making the uncivilized people popular with his interpretation of Conan the Barbarian.

Details and references are never enough!

We have talked a lot about Ivan, so what better way to close this article than with a video of him at work? The clip was recently recorded during a convention, and we can see him speedpainting a sketch of Warchief Luathan.

Stay tuned for more artwork, and check our Facebook page if you want to see all that we unveiled so far.
