Part1. Questions from OceanEx Team
➤ Q1. Could you please give a detailed introduction of your project? What does it do? What problems does your project try to resolve? And what is your team structure?
Tachyon Protocol is a decentralized internet protocol that aims to create a libre, secure and private internet for users. The Tachyon-based VPN, IoT, DeFi, Storage, CDN, DNS and other Apps will benefit more than 900 million users.
Tachyon Protocol is designed to reconstruct the TCP/IP stack by providing decentralized structure, end-to-end encryption, private traffic, concurrent multipath routing, and multi-relaying scheme to provide a self-sustaining internet system that is untraceable, highly available, and fast.
Tachyon Protocol is driven by its community and led by a five-member committee. Our team consists of : Sunny King, the inventor of PoS consensus, and three members who have been CEOs or leaders of a project or entity. We are all familiar with blockchain, financial technology, investment, token economics, decentralized technology and project management.
We also have top database experts and brand marketers, highly skilled software engineers, marketers and product operators from the VPN industry.
➤ Q2. Nowadays there are many VPNs available, what are the main competitive advantages of Tachyon protocol?
Nowadays, people pay more attention to the privacy and security of the network. There are 900 million users around the world who have tried to use VPN. Most VPNs are centralized. One Centralized VPN, NordVPN was attacked by hackers some time ago. Using a centralized VPN means that you’re trusting a single point of failure: the VPN provider itself.
Tachyon VPN beats traditional VPNs in these ways:
- It’s run by a decentralized community. There’s no centralized entity to betray you so you don’t have to worry about privacy and data leaks.
- It’s faster than traditional VPN’s because of the extent of our global node network.
- It’s safer than traditional VPNs because you’re protected from man in the middle attacks
- Our IPX token allows users to earn rewards by joining our node network. Our node network will continue to grow globally, increasing our speed and security advantages.
➤ Q3. There exist many potential factors in the network environments that may cause access failure. With regards to this the Tachyon protocol selects the viable protocol by recognizing the current network environment, increasing the successful connection rate in complex environments up to 90%. Could you introduce to us the specific method with which the connection rate is successfully promoted?
Firewalls identify and block network traffic based on its characteristics. Tachyon Protocol uses unique technologies to improve user’s connection success rate, in addition to encryption algorithms commonly used by VPNs.
Tachyon Protocol is able to conceal packets and simulate 9 transmission protocols such as UDP, TCP, HTTP, HTTPS, FTP and SMTP.
Using our SMTP technology for example, it can appear as if the user is sending emails. This will effectively hide the fact that the user is actually using the Internet, instead of sending emails. Tachyon can detect what systems are blocking your traffic, and route around them.
➤ Q4. Distributed networks increase the risk of single-node capture attacks, since the attacker can monitor communication contents in the network more easily. Could you explain to us in simple words, or exemplify the notion that the Tachyon protocol utilizes Tachyon anti-fracturing analysis to achieve information decomposition and information flow?
Information is transmitted in the form of data packets. When hackers attack, they can obtain information only after intercepting most of the data packets and decrypting them. Tachyon Anti-analysis greatly reduces the probability for the hacker’s interception of data packets and increases their costs from two aspects;
- Tachyon distributes data packets that transmit information through different nodes, so that unless a hacker can monitor the entire network, it is impossible to obtain all the data packets in question. The cost to monitor the Tachyon network will increase exponentially with the number of nodes.
- Tachyon uses a method similar to TOR’s onion routing for transmission. This passes your encrypted traffic through multiple nodes, keeping it secure.
➤ Q5. Tachyon protocol possesses absolute security and privacy and is faster, more cost-effective without any choking phenomena. In the future, how will the Tachyon protocol create benefits, specifically in the domain of privacy protection, data storage, CDN, DeFi, instant messages, edge computing and gaming?
Any of these business scenarios could be built on top of the Tachyon Network, using Tachyon as a secure transport. Each scenario currently has a clear business model that has been proven. Our idea is to use blockchain and distributed concepts to improve the existing business model and improve its operating efficiency while protecting the privacy of users.
Tachyon will allow people building in any of these fields to rapidly develop secure transports between their nodes. As our node count increases, Tachyon becomes an infrastructure platform itself.
The Tachyon team works as a member of the community. We can also benefit from participating in the construction of the network, and many of us actively run nodes or are planning to build projects on Tachyon.
➤ Q6. We know you will launch your first product this year. It’s a decentralized VPN so can you give more details about it. And are there any other use cases that a normal user can benefit from Tachyon Protocol in the real-life?
Tachyon VPN is our first product. It’s a faster, safer VPN that also happens to be cheaper and decentralized.
The alpha version of our node manager and our VPN client for macOS has been released, and the remaining platforms are under development. It’s also possible to set up a non-incentivized provider node.

Part2. Questions from Community
➤ Q1. What is the main role of v.systems in the IPX ecosystem ? Why do you choose v.systems in place of the other?What type of benefits v.systems offers to IPX as compared to others ?
Tachyon Protocol is built on v.systems for the following reasons:
Supernode Proof of Stake. SPoS is Sunny King’s new invention, which allows the blockchain to be stable and secure, and is practically resistant to 51% attack. v.systems is especially well-built for complex protocols and DApps, like ours. Its SPoS allows for speed and ability to scale DApps seamlessly.
Euclid smart contracts. By design, the Euclid smart contracts have simplified code and logic that can minimize the likelihood of errors, and achieve better efficiency and higher throughput. So v.systems creates a development environment that makes building, testing, and deploying smart contracts faster and easier.
Staking 2.0. Users staking VSYS will receive our ecosystem tokens, as well. In the case of Tachyon, 10% of the total supply is dedicated to distribution to stakers on VSYS supernodes. This means that by choosing v.systems, our IPX token gets wide distribution.
v.systems’ approach to partnerships and ecosystem building. The v.systems team is always willing to help. Tachyon required payment channels for rapid payment, and the VSYS team implemented this for Tachyon by enabling streaming real-time payments of the IPX token. Let me be clear: they’ve added features to their blockchain just for our project. We couldn’t get this level of collaboration elsewhere.
➤ Q2. Decentralized VPN provider Orchid has launched its app, network and OXT token. And I see that many companies are working hard to improve TCP/IP, such as Google’s QUIC protocol, IBM’s Apera and many others so what are the advantages of Tachyon Protocol over similar projects?
The most important thing for VPN is its function feature on privacy, data security, and network freedom. This part is mainly reflected in the adopted transmission protocol:
（1）Orchid Protocol
Use WebRTC to perform preliminary data obfuscation on transmitted data.
Use multi-hop to reduce the possibility of information being stolen.
We deeply respect Orchid’s efforts, and think they’ve a highly professional team. That said, compared to Tachyon, Orchid Protocol does not implement a novel transmission protocol. Their WebRTC implementation can establish P2P communication but also brings problems in transmission quality in actual use. We’re glad that there’s so much research being done into open source decentralized VPN!
（2）QUIC
Google’s QUIC is a project to increase the speed of network transmission. It has been used in Chrome and has achieved good results. Tachyon Booster UDP works on Transport Layer and Application Layer similar to QUIC in mechanism.
（3）Tachyon Protocol
Tachyon Protocol has done extensive work on the transmission protocol, providing a more comprehensive, lower-level solution. One big difference between us and Orchid is that we’re building out our protocol and node network with the intention of opening our node network to new applications beyond VPN.
The core tech of Tachyon Protocol has been tested by 50 million users of a centralized VPN which has a rich industry experience and channel influence. At the same time, we also get strong technology support by co-developing with v.systems and our founding member, Sunny King.
➤ Q3. What are the advantages of OceanEx exchange and why IPX chose OceanEx as the listing?
OceanEx is a reputable exchange with a huge user base around the world. After our first listing on Bithumb and Bithumb Global, we are able to get attention in Korea. Many investors from other countries and regions wanted IPX to be listed on more top exchanges and be available in different markets.
We’re always looking to expand exchange listings, and we were thrilled to find OceanEx as an enthusiastic partner. We are also aggressively developing our node network, and user community. We feel that delivering on our technology roadmap will lead to more users, more holders, and a stronger Tachyon network.
➤ Q4. What are the utilities of IPX Tokens and what are the benefits of holding IPX Tokens ?
IPX is a token that resides on the v.systems network. IPX provides an easy, affordable means of sharing spare bandwidth with our user community, which strengthens the stability and growth of the network.
IPX is used for:
- Identity verification for provider nodes.
- Ensuring our project is driven by our community.
- Paying for services from the node network and staking.
- Securing the Tachyon Network by protecting against sybil attacks.
➤ Q5. Most investors only focus on the price of the token in the short term instead of the real value of the project. Can you tell me the benefits for long-term investors?
The core technology of Tachyon Protocol comes from a pre-existing centralized VPN, and that’s why we’re launching a VPN first. The Tachyon team has rich technical experience and marketing capabilities, which is a key factor in our success.

➤ Q6. Trust is very important in business. So, what makes investors, customers and users feel safe when working with Tachyon Protocol? And how will you get the trust of many users that have negative thoughts about Blockchain?
Tachyon is a distributed network protocol. Tachyon VPN is better than a centralized VPN because user data is not stored in a centralized node or system anywhere on earth.
Tachyon Protocol uses open source projects to provide services to users. We use open source code, and we ship open source code, because we care about Open source. We will eventually be governed by a DAO.
We’re shipping a product better than any other VPN, blockchain based or not. People with doubts can try it if they’d like!
➤ Q7. What consensus algorithm does IPX use and how was it selected? What’s being done to ensure price stability and drive global adoption at all levels?
Tachyon Protocol uses the v.systems network, which is much faster than Ethereum, and its Euclid smart contracts are highly secure. We chose v.systems because of its speed, security and stability.
Our main goal for 2020 is to promote the global application of Tachyon VPN.
We will gradually launch clients based on platforms such as iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, and Linux. Our team has the experience to obtain tens of millions of users in one year in the VPN industry, so we are confident that Tachyon VPN can grow a huge user base.
➤ Q8. Do you care about miners? TACHYON PROTOCOL Mining. How many tokens do I have to have to participate in staking or become a masternode?What are the minimum hardware requirements to run a complete Provider Node of Tachyon Network?
I was a Bitcoin miner at one point. We don’t just care about miners, We LOVE MINERS.
IPX isn’t exactly mined, but it can be earned by providing services as a provider node.
Currently, it’s possible to begin setting up nodes with this software:
Right now, there’s no cost to set it up, and no reward. Later it’s going to cost 200,000 IPX tokens, and you’ll be rewarded with a staking reward of 5% per year and you’ll earn IPX payments from users of your node’s services, as well.
I’m personally available to anyone interested in running a node and helping us build our infrastructure.
➤ Q9.Staking is widely used by many Crypto for now. What is the difference between Staking on Tachyon and other Staking?
In most of the existing projects, staking is only used as user incentives. But Tachyon Protocol has applied staking in an open P2P network that allows everyone to join in the development of the network, and maintain its safety and stability. If an attacker mixes into the network by forging identities, the network is easily attacked by witches. Therefore, users have the right to join the network by means of staking, which increases the cost of the attack and makes it impossible to control a large number of nodes in the network at a low cost in a short time.
To become a Tachyon Provider Node, users need to stake a certain amount of IPX for a period of time. The staking amount and period of IPX are adjustable parameters and will be adjusted according to the development of the Tachyon Network.
Of course, joining Tachyon Network to become a provider node can get both staking rewards and session rewards.
For the security of Tachyon Network and anti-spam attacks, each node is required to stake IPX to participate in providing traffic mining. The system will give IPX Token to the provider nodes.
Session refers to the transaction that the node provides traffic to the user. Each session reward for a node is different, depending on the price of the session, the total amount of traffic used, and the IPX price.
Provider Nodes Pre-Mining Program will be available soon. We will update you with more details once it is launched.
➤ Q10. Can you share the recent Development & Progress of Tachyon project in 2019. And also, what’ the future roadmap of Tachyon Protocol in this 2020 year?
Tachyon Protocol has already delivered our plans for 2019, and we are progressing on a plan for Q1 2020. As for now, the alpha versions of Tachyon VPN for macOS and Tachyon Node Manager for macOS have been released, and many community members have actively contributed to the Tachyon Network.
Tachyon VPN for iOS and Android will also be released in the next 1 to 2 weeks. Our team has a well-known execution ability in terms of project implementation.
Tachyon VPN aims to gain 1 million users in 2020. Based on our extensive channel and marketing experience in the VPN industry, we believe this is a target that can be implemented.
