Play Open Beta League of Legends: Wild Rift on Android/iOS with Tachyon VPN
League of Legends: Wild Rift, the mobile version of the massively popular Multiplayer Online Battle Arena or MOBA game, League of Legends (or, LoL in short) was launched in open beta last week. However, the beta is limited to only seven countries right now -Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand.
League of Legends is easily one of the largest esports in the world with a huge followership. It has been around for more than 10 years and was originally inspired by another popular MOBA game, Defense of the Ancients (DotA). The finals of this year’s League of Legends World Championship saw 3.2 million people competing for one of the 6,312 available tickets for the live event at Shanghai’s Pudong Soccer Stadium. South Korea’s DAMWON Gaming (DWG) won the finals to claim the world champion title for the first time.
Ever since Riot Games (the developers of the game) were acquired by Tencent, there has been a constant buzz to create a mobile adaptation of their PC-based bestseller, LoL. After a few years of deliberations, it was finally decided last year that League of Legends: Wild Rift would be released as a mobile version. Since then, it has been a highly awaited release for esports enthusiasts around the world. But the regional beta means that players from other countries would not be able to partake in it for now.
However, Tachyon VPN always has your back. Here we will quickly explain how you can play in the open beta even if you’re not from one of the seven countries mentioned above.
For iOS Devices:
- Step1. Go to appleid.apple.com and create a new Apple account using an existing or new email ID. For country, choose one of the seven countries allowed in the open beta, say Japan.
- Step2. Go to signup.leagueoflegends.com to set up your LoL (or Riot) account using the same email ID.
- Step3. Go to App Store and login using the just created App Store account credentials. For address, put up a random Japanese address.
- Step4. Now look up the League of Legends: Wild Rift app and download it.
- Step5. Go back to the App Store to download Tachyon VPN if you don’t have it already and launch it after installation.
- Step6. Select a server from Japan to connect. Once the VPN is connected, open the League of Legends: Wild Rift app.
- Step7. Once loading completes, click on the Riot logo to login with the same credentials you used to create an LoL account earlier. Confirm Japan as the game region. Finally, choose your Wild Rift name and start playing.
For Android Devices:
- Step1. Login to the Google Play Store with an existing or new Gmail ID. Download Tachyon VPN if you don’t have it already and launch it after installation.
- Step2. Select a server from one of the seven countries allowed in the open beta, say Japan, to connect.
- Step3. Close Play Store. Go to phone settings, then to Apps and Notifications, choose Google Play Store, click on Storage and Cache and click on Clear Storage.
- Step4.Now access the Play Store again, look up the League of Legends: Wild Rift app and download it. You can also download the apk on apkpure or apkmirror.
- Step5. Go to signup.leagueoflegends.com to set up your LoL (or Riot) account using the same Gmail ID used to access Play Store from earlier.
- Step6. Now open the League of Legends: Wild Rift app. Allow permission to access files. Once loading completes, click on the Riot logo to sign in with the same credentials you used to create an LoL account earlier. Confirm Japan as the game region. Agree to Terms and Conditions. Finally, choose your Wild Rift name and start playing.
