Tachyon Protocol(IPX) AMA Summary
We have launched AMA events in three Korean communities this week. Our founding member Jacob has shared the latest development progress and our following plan with over 5,000 Korean investors during the AMA.

Hi, I am Jacob Gadikian. About a year ago, I joined the founding team of Tachyon because I wanted to help make the internet a freer place.
Our mission: One World, One Internet.
During the past year we have launched Tachyon and seen a dramatic rise in global internet censorship. We are building an internet experience for everyone that is free of barriers, surveillance, and censorship.
Demand for our product is surging and we are on track to hit 1 million users next week.
I’m looking forward to telling you some more about Tachyon today.
Q1. What is Tachyon Protocol?
Tachyon is a decentralized network with strong encryption and invisibility core to its design. Because our design priority was on making Tachyon hard to detect, it cuts through network censorship like a hot knife through butter. In comparison to conventional VPN systems, our protocol emphasizes the ability to circumvent content blocks. Tachyon assumes that it lives in an adversarial environment and takes active measures to protect users based on that assumption. In comparison, OpenVPN and Wireguard make no attempt to conceal their traffic, so they are easier to block.
Tachyon is extensible and its nodes will soon be able to host applications, forming a new UDP based Internet. This will give users better Network performance and higher reliability. Tachyon is the first project built on V Systems’ blockchain technology, and employs a novel PoS-based consensus algorithm called SPoS (Supernode Proof-of-Stake). The creator of the original PoS protocol, Sunny King, has provided his technical expertise to the Tachyon team right from its inception.
Q2. What’s Dvpn? What’s the difference between Dvpn and VPN？
A decentralized VPN is a VPN that is not operated by any one single provider, and is instead operated by many people and companies working together in a peer-to-peer fashion. This decentralized structure increases user security while lowering cost.
The biggest difference between a decentralized VPN and a VPN from a user perspective is that a decentralized VPN does not and cannot know who you are. When you pay for Tachyon, you pay for it in IPX, a currency hosted on the V Systems blockchain network.
To increase the speed of payments, we have developed a system of payment channels in conjunction with V Systems. Tachyon’s unique feature among centralized VPNs and decentralized VPNs is that payments are streamed to service providers in real time. On the Tachyon Network, anyone can be a node provider. You can become a node provider either by using our Node Manager 2.0 software or by registering as a node provider at ipxus.com.
In the Tachyon economy, node providers earn a staking reward and session rewards. The more bandwidth your provider node serves, the more session rewards you’ll earn.
Q3. What’s the Tachyon team’s biggest achievement to date？
Our biggest accomplishment is user growth.
We are honored and humbled by the pace and scale of user adoption of our product. We always thought that we had a good product, but we never anticipated the kind of growth that we have been seeing.
Currently, more than 900,000 users have downloaded our Tachyon VPN mobile app. We are on track to hit 1 million users next week.
Furthermore, we have had growth in the number of node operators. There are now 1511 node operators.
Combined, these two statistics mean that Tachyon is one of the largest blockchain applications by user count, and we are growing by as much as 10,000 users per day.
In Saudi Arabia alone, we are serving 200 terabytes of data daily. In Saudi Arabia, we hit Number 35 on the Google Play Store.
Q4. What does IPX the token do?
IPX is the native currency of Tachyon Protocol. Provider nodes in the Tachyon ecosystem stake a minimum of 20,000 IPX tokens to improve the security of the network. IPX also serves as the payment token and governance token in the Tachyon network.
IPX token will also be used for payments in our peer to peer bandwidth marketplace.
IPX is probably the fastest token around. Our payment channel system ensures that payments to nodes can be made in milliseconds and in real time.

- Secures the Tachyon Node Network
- Acts as a governance mechanism
- Is used for payments across the Tachyon Network
Q5. What is the Tachyon Bandwidth Marketplace?
Our global peer-to-peer Bandwidth Marketplace allows nodes with excess bandwidth to be able to sell their spare resources to other Tachyon VPN users. The IPX Staking System is a core component of this upcoming marketplace.
Users stake IPX tokens to the Tachyon network and earn conventional Staking rewards similar to other PoS-based blockchains. Moreover, users who sell bandwidth are paid Session rewards directly by Tachyon users connected to their nodes. Session rewards depend on session pricing and regional bandwidth demand.
Apart from the IPX Staking System, the Tachyon Bandwidth Market infrastructure will consist of 3 other critical components — the IPX Node Manager, the IPX Wallet, and the Tachyon Payment Channels. The IPX Node Manager 2.0 allows Node Providers to create and run Tachyon nodes, and join and manage IPX staking. The IPX Wallet, which enables Tachyon VPN users to obtain IPX to buy premium VPN traffic, has also been released. The release of Tachyon Payment Channels is the final step in the completion of the Tachyon bandwidth marketplace.
Q6. How does IPX staking work?
The IPX Staking System is an incentive system that enables an open, transparent, and competitive bandwidth marketplace. With this system, Node Providers earn rewards by staking and selling bandwidth to global users. IPX Staking System is governed by its participants, and ensures a stable supply of bandwidth for Tachyon VPN.
You can start staking IPX on the sites developed and run by our Platform Partners like ipxus.com and exchanges like Bithumb, and Bithumb Global.
Q7. How can I sell bandwidth by becoming a node provider?
Our upcoming node manager 2.0 allows users to set up nodes on various cloud providers and on their own computers more easily.
Just like on our platform partners Bithumb and ipxus.com, node manager 2.0 allows anyone with 20,000 IPX tokens to become a node provider.
It is interesting to note that Korea has the world’s fastest internet speeds and that the 1 GBPS home internet connections common in Korea are viable as tachyon provider nodes.
To put it simply, if you have a very fast internet connection, tachyon provides you with the opportunity to monetize it while advancing the cause of internet freedom.
Q8. What is your exchange listing strategy?
IPX is listed on bithumb, bithumb global, oceanex, hotbit and hitbtc.
We are working to expand our exchange listing footprint, and will soon be listed on one more exchange in this month.
Additionally, we get listing support from the team at V Systems and together we are actively pursuing integrations with more exchanges, including decentralized changes like Uniswap.
Q9. What is the outlook for Tachyon in light of increased censorship?
Really good.
Our highest demand regions are all heavily censored. Our technology stack is very effective at circumventing both corporate and government internet censorship. This is mainly due to the fact that we have focused on making our protocol traffic invisible. Since tachyon traffic takes many forms and all of those forms mirror regular internet traffic, it is very difficult to detect what is and is not tachyon traffic.
We anticipate increased demand globally due to increasing content and economic censorship. An example of content censorship would be Chinese internet censorship practices, and an example of economic censorship would be American legislation on cryptocurrency exchanges. It is fair to say that this new form of blocks on apps from China In the United States is economic, political and content censorship all rolled into one.
These bans increase demand for the kinds of privacy and security services that the tachyon network provides.
The future for our product, which allows anyone to preserve internet freedom and monetize their internet connection looks bright.
Q10. What do you think about the US banning TikTok and WeChat?
We oppose all forms of Internet censorship, and are displeased to see censorship spreading around the world.
According to analytics firm Apptopia, Wechat has had an average of 19 million daily active users in the US in the past three months. The ban will actually cut off more than the up to 6 million Chinese people who live in the states, not to mention the millions of American businesspeople who use WeChat to collaborate with Chinese colleagues.
In short, we expect that demand for VPN services among a large, affluent group of users will increase dramatically in the coming months. No one wants to be cut off from their friends and families, and that’s why we have a singular focus: One World, One Internet.
