4 Charities You Should Be Supporting This Year
It seems impossible…until it’s not.
If you know us the slightest bit, you know we love giving back. And when we’re able to give back while hosting and sponsoring epic events? No questions asked. Each year, we offer our wholehearted support to a variety of charities, although our collective philanthropy goes way beyond that. Below, get a glimpse of the organizations we’ve chosen to back in 2018. And consider doing the same. Alone, we can only do so little. Together, we can do so, so much.
The Jewish Federation
The Jewish Federation is rooted in the power and strength of community, so you know we’re all about it. The foundation addresses the greatest challenges of Jewish life, both locally and globally, and leverages its resources to assure the continuity of the Jewish population, support a secure State of Israel, care for those in need—both here and abroad—and plenty more.
Regardless of religious practice, heritage, skin color, sexual orientation or gender, the organization welcomes everyone to share in a vibrant and inclusive expression of Jewish communal life. We could all use a greater sense of camaraderie in our lives, so every year we sponsor a table at The Jewish Federation’s REC Dinner, honoring leadership and contributions to The Federation and Jewish community. This year, the event is on May 9th at Santa Monica’s Barker Hanger, so snag some tickets here and join us in a stellar evening.
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is to cure the genetic disease — which causes persistent lung infections and limits one’s ability to breathe over time — and to provide those suffering with the opportunity to lead full, productive lives. The organization funds research and drug development, promoting individualized treatment and ensuring access to specialized care.
So, as you may have expected at this point, we support all these charities with our most earnest fundraising efforts. On May 19th we will be a sponsor at the Cystic Fibrosis California Winemasters event at Warner Bros. Studio. The extraordinary evening will showcase 50 international chefs and 75 of California’s finest wineries, with all proceeds going directly to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. So, purchase a ticket, indulge in some incredible grub and hang with us — all whilst giving back.
Children’s Burn Foundation
Children’s Burn Foundation is a nonprofit dear to our hearts. As many of you may already know, we are both fathers; and if we can meet the needs of children, we’ll do whatever is physically possible. The organization is dedicated to providing support services for child burn survivors and their families, with the goal of preventing pain and trauma of burn injuries while affording those who have suffered severe burns the opportunity to reach their full potential — physically, psychologically and socially. Each year, we sponsor CBF’s Giving New Hope Benefit, held every March at The Beverly Hilton.
We are also constantly coming up with new and creative ways to fundraise for Children’s Burn Foundation — and 2018 is no exception. On June 14th we’re taking over Porta Via in Beverly Hills for an evening of cocktails (served up by Smith & Berg, no less), along with delish small bites and killer raffle prizes. Mark your calendars and stay tuned for more details. Additional celebrity bartenders may just so happen to make an appearance…
Concern Foundation for Cancer Research
Concern Foundation for cancer research is an extraordinary organization that that we continue to support year after year. Founded in 1968, the independent, volunteer-driven organization grants 90–95% of their net proceeds directly to cancer research, affording nearly 750 scientists the opportunity to study cancer—primarily in the areas of cancer genetics—cell biology and immunology.
Every year, Concern Foundation takes over the back lot at Paramount Studios Hollywood for its Annual Block Party, held this year on July 14th with over 4,000 attendees, 75 food and beverage vendors, musical entertainment and so much more. You know where to find us. Let’s help conquer cancer now.
