Claiming a spot at the top of the food chain.

Los Angeles has garnered global acclaim for plenty of reasons. Epic weather, 75 miles of pristine coastline, an ever-burgeoning arts culture, killer real estate. Oh, and the food? Let’s put that right at the top of our list (maybe under real estate—it’s still up to debate). Culinary connoisseurs are constantly seeking to put down roots in the City of Angels and 2018 has proved to be no exception. The restaurant scene is booming so take a seat (if you can get one) and devour this list of L.A.’s most anticipated new eateries.

Majordomo

If you have not yet seen David Chang’s new Netflix documentary Ugly Delicious, stop what you’re doing and beeline for the TV. We’re not kidding. The show will inspire a renewed way of looking at both food and culture, and it’ll surely make you want to pull up a seat at Chang’s newest restaurant Majordomo.

The menu represents its own Modern-Korean-Californian cuisine, brimming with fresh ingredients and never-before-seen meat preparations. Already, Majordomo has proven to be one of L.A.’s most desirable new restaurants. You heard it here first, now try to snag a reservation—it won’t be easy, but the best things in life usually aren’t.

The Mezzanine at NoMad

What happens when you combine L.A.’s most anticipated hotel and restaurant? Magic, really. Hailing from New York City, the incredibly chic NoMad Hotel in DTLA captivates with architectural grandeur and its astounding new Mezzanine restaurant.

Mezzanine is led by Daniel Humm and Will Guidara, responsible for Eleven Park Madison in New York (named the World’s Best Restaurant). Impressive, no? Naturally, the NoMad’s Mezzanine has already justified its culinary authenticity. Black truffle roast chicken and crispy suckling pig are but two mouth-watering dishes on the menu. Reserve a table far in advance and indulge in a stellar meal you won’t soon forget.

Night+ Market Sahm

A funky Thai restaurant that both Jonathan Gold and David Chang have praised to no end? Count us in. Night + Market has locations in both Weho and Silver Lake, where you can find people from both near and far lining the streets to get a table. With that said, it should come as no surprise that chef & owner Kris Yenbamroong opened up another joint, Night + Market Sahm, in Venice.

The restaurant is teeming with unpretentious character, and the authentically inauthentic Thai menu does not fall short on remarkably vibrant, mouthwatering flavors. Opt for the Peking duck pizza, pastrami pad kee mao, fried pig tails and the world-famous fried chicken sandwich. Don’t question it. Just order.

Jaffa

Middle Eastern cuisine has hit the ground running in L.A., with restaurants like Mh Zh and Kismet getting some serious acclaim, but no place seems to have done it better than the recently-opened Jaffa. Located on West Third Street, this modern Israeli eatery has already proved its refined-yet-casual-healthy-but-wildly-delicious stature since opening at the end of January.

Dine amongst the restaurant’s contemporary cool atmosphere, replete with soaring ceilings and a bright, natural aesthetic, while feasting on fresh dishes like North African chickpea stew, lamb couscous and pull-apart Kubaneh bread. Chef Anne Conness knows exactly what she’s doing, so let her lead the way. All you have to do is make a reservation—and do it fast, before everyone else beats you to the punch.
