[Old article written on 24–09–2020] 要數二十世紀中最偉大的物理學家，愛因斯坦應該是毋容置疑。在被稱為奇跡之年(Annus Mirabilis)的1905年，在瑞士專利局工作的愛因斯坦連續發表了四篇對後世影響非常深遠的物理學論文，令他名氣大增。他的理論在後來的物理實驗，以及觀測中一一取得證實。 到底是受了什麼刺激或者啟發，令一個籍籍無名，上不了研究所而在瑞士專利局工作的年輕小伙子，成為二十世紀最具名氣的科學家之一？ 在不少物理學家眼中，發表一篇已經很難，連中四元、而四篇都具有影響力的文章。難怪被稱為愛因斯坦的奇跡之年，這真的不無道理。 (我總覺得這詞語有諷刺的意味) 1921年，愛因斯坦以光電效應(並非後世更著名的相對論)，取得當年的諾貝爾物理學獎。 1927年第五次索爾維會議大會，愛因斯坦坐在正中央的位置，顯示出愛因斯坦當時在物理學界的地位。愛因斯坦的思考方式、個人魅力以至他本人的大腦，也是為站在巨人的肩膀上的後來者所津津樂道的事。愛因斯坦固然是偉大的物理學家，但他的感情史(或者說是風流史)往往受到人們的責難。八十年代開始，他的個人書信逐漸公開，令很多人對愛因斯坦的敬仰轉變成負面甚至否定的評價。
