Yep. It’s tough to expect folks to have blind faith in the market when it’s already leaving so many hanging by a thread (if not worse). A basic income would provide some sense of security as we wander into the unknown.
I’m not sure if you follow Stephanie Kelton, or Steven D. Grumbine (Real Progressives) on FB, but how do you feel about pairing UBI with a Federal Jobs Guarantee? Work for those who CAN and UBI for those who cannot? Take your time responding, I’m genuinely interested in your response.
Perhaps a bit over the top, but you have a point to make. However, the trends and the changes are not going to stop. As always, it is impossible to stop the flow of changes, even if change ≠progress. We will get new apps. We will get more robots. We will get more algorithms. We will get more imbedded AI, and also many things we cannot even imagine.
