I eat like a pig anyway, so for me it doesn’t matter. Throw in a catalytic converter, insurance, etc and I am saving a nice chunk of change by not owning a car. That’s even after I count against it any car rental we have to buy when my wife’s car craps out.

The first time I was ever on the DC Metro I found it so strange that you had to pay to exit the station. It was such a foreign concept to me.
In LA now, the system itself is actually pretty painless, except for the fact that you need at least one bus or an uber to get from a station to anywhere relevant.
