X-Files and the Science of Alien Conspiracy
My thougths on the authors’ recent retcon of their own mythos.
Very well written article, Josh. I really enjoyed reading it. Gave me chills first in the beginning with the video and paranormal aspect and then realizing the reality of it all. I suffer from the same internal demons as Elisa. I know how that hopelessness feels and how it can feel like you are alone in the world that no one else understands…
Honestly, when I watched the video of her in the elevator I got the impression that she was trying to locate and trigger (in a quirky manner)a sensor to make the doors close. I didn’t know her so I can’t speak to her personality, but I have friends who have mannerisms and quirky personalities and if this was a video of them, I’d think the same thing. Just some food for thought.
For instance, this comes from Elisa’s Tumblr:
“I don’t know to explain myself and I have a feeling that I never will know who I am so instead of an abstract and useless description I will assure you that I am not a nutjob that hunts for their next victim on the internet. I, however, will think everyone else is a pedophile thanks to To Catch a Predator. I’m logical like that.”
Weirdly, these detectives have been written about at great length in a completely different context, Jill Leovy’s fascinating book “Ghettocide”. I feel like I know them.
