2014 was the year when the world’s first NFT was created. Its name is Quantum; its author, Kevin Mc Coy; its origin, New York. The concept of the first NFT is a simple animated geometric figure on a black background displaying a continuous cycle of shape and color. In June 2021, Sotheby’s auction house sold this piece for 1,472,000 dollars. “In 2014, I had the idea to use blockchain technology to create a permanent way to prove ownership of these type of digital images. Quantum was the first of its kind,” — commented Mc Coy.
