Today she stayed and fought panic.
It dragged her by the hair
On the floor, through the dirt
It slammed her entirety against a wall
Its murk grew over her
A thick veil of acquiescence
She lay there, bloodied and broken
Yet she reached for something, anything
Until she caught a glint
In the corner, nicking the darkness
A dot of salvation
And as she put her last faith in it
It drew closer, closer, closer
She seized it, wielded it
A slash through the darkness
A gash of light forcing it apart
Today she fought panic and found power.
