To take Rick’s argument a step further, allowing them into the country so that counter-terrorist agencies can follow them around at $4,000 a day for months or years makes no sense. If forced to stay with IS, these fighters always become more of a burden than they are worth and they are murdered or martyred. Either way it seems better not to let a snake back into the house.

This is well-written and credible in view of recent reports from the U.K.. The anger against ISIS volunteers from the U.S. and Europe leads some people to be blinded to the actual experiences and motivations of those who break from the ISIS group. They could indeed be helpful and deserve special consideration. Their knowledge of the recruiting process makes them potential assets to thwart ISIS.
