I can’t help thinking about the Buddhist sages who advise us to refrain from “clinging.” Clinging to expectations of how things should go, what this or that holiday celebration needs to look like, clinging to inevitably changing outward appearances, clinging to worries that serve no purpose but to distract us from the perfect interconnectedness we belong to.
