I didn’t know the story of Kalief, but it is ‘a mountain’. It seems so many wrongs were done. It didn’t start yesterday – but it is now a mountain that is starting to crumble from its heavy, heavy weight. Aside from the other injustices and poor judgement that Kalief endured along the way, locking someone up, let alone a 16 year old, in solitary confinement – ‘to protect them’ from other inmates is just madness.
