Some of my readers have asked what “Day at the Beach” is about. Usually I leave readers to come up with their own takes on the text, but felt in this particular case I may have led them astray with overdone symbolism and bloated stream of consciousness. So back to the text.
Thanks Grégoire! I am not familiar with H. Taine but will look them up. I certainly wouldn’t have thought about it if I didn’t have such fondness for the Oulipo, though by Oulipian standards it’s a pretty modest exercise!
But like you say, it brings fascinating details to the fore.
