Great idea Joe. A simple, but always elegant idea that is sometimes implemented in a non-elegant way. I’m really interested to see the final implementation (UX) of this feature.

As I’d hoped, the notifications I’m getting around @mentions keeps drawing me back to the product and they’re just higher quality too.

I’m not sure if this is the place to muse about feature requests, but what if mentions weren’t limited to people already signed up for Medium? Seems like a good way to get people who haven’t taken the time to sign up and write something. Would be good to ping them on Twitter or some other social network, if they’re not on medium. just a thought

We shipped it! Go try out mentions by typing @ and then the name of the person. We auto-expand the mention to the person’s full name, and you can hit backspace to delete their last name if you’d like.

Dain, it probably reminds you of that time we added mentions to Midas!
