Welcome in the next Dirt Weekly article! This week I will tell you how skulk was made. Ancient Builders needed a food source, so they melted echo crystals into warped forest blocks, making the sculk: a fungi that feasts on energy. Echo crystals were once common (more: https://medium.com/@chmiel.marcin/how-did-ancient-builders-live-a-minecraft-theory-212dd4e7d55c ), so they made a lot of sculk and went into the Ancient Cities as the sea level rose. But one day, the sculk overgrew and destroyed the cities and turned some Ancient Builders into wardens (more: https://medium.com/@chmiel.marcin/why-are-wardens-blind-minecraft-9900e106c4bc). The warden goes into a warped forest and stays in one spot when in the nether, otherwise enters the portal, into the overworld.
