The opening premise: what to say at a restaurant to convince waitstaff that we want to enjoy a meal with no single-use plastic on the table? No straws, no plastic sauce cups, no plastic wrapped condiments or crackers, no single use jellies or jams, no plastic wrapped candies, no plastic wrapped moist towelettes. No plastic tableware thanks — if you don’t have silverware, we have our own in our pockets. No plastic to-go containers, we have those too, and no beverages hot or cold in disposable paper cups lined with plastic, with the plastic lid on top — can you fill up our stainless steel mugs instead? How can we say all of that and more with just a phrase? “We’re ALLERGIC to plastic!”
