Can’t nobody do it like Prince do

Man…thanks for this Smokey. Like you, I’ve been in awe of Prince’s talent since I was a kid. I remember hearing “Controversy” on the radio for the first time, and connecting with the beat, the bass, the guitar, in a way that nothing else ever had. From there on out, it’s been a complete love affair with his music. So great to see that 30+ years later…
Mr. Goodmann — thank you and congratulations … a simple reflection after reading: for me the problem has an extra layer: no one hears the elegy of the upcoming / underground artists. Therefore Prince’s voice is important. Can you and YourListen also help me monetize my work?
In Prince’s case, the solution when it comes to monetization is so simple it hurts, especially since he has already done this in the early 2k’s:
A club model based on monthly or annual paid membership. The basic idea is you have fans becoming members of your club for a fee and in return they not only get a guaranteed number…
Your second to last paragraph really sums it up for me.
Justin Bieber probably would not exist had he not been discovered on Youtube. Youtube would not be as large as it is now if it were not for musicians (and other content providers) sharing their work, which has now become the largest music streaming service in the world.
Great minds think alike Rohan! lol
Unfortunately I don’t think Prince has truly realized things have changed.
Prince seemed to be living in the world of Prince.
Based on our conversation I think he is stuck in his ways and has no interest in even contemplating the way he manages his music catalog.
