What’s wrong with being just a horse?

Sure the horse’s wins were a great achievement. A lot of people liked the horse. But a horse is still a horse. A horse doesn't have bad days, a horse can’t be insulted, a horse doesn't struggle with existential matters.

Although I can appreciate Carpenter’s passion for the sport and for racehorses everywhere, I challenge her (and supporters) to consider the very nature of SI’s poll, as well as the subsequent polls that formed shortly after Serena Williams was named Sportsperson of the Year.
