This creates a problem where listeners are more attached to the streaming services than to the artists providing the music that makes those services thrive. It’s more about “Wow, what an awesome playlist!” than about “Wow, what an awesome musician!” There are those rare moments when we utter the latter, and then form a close relationship with the artist, but they are fewer and farther between.
