He stood at the dark train stop looking at the nearby buildings. No matter how dark the night, there was plenty of light in the city. The little twinkles from the apartment buildings. The commercial signs on the few shops that were still open. The street lamps that were playing catch with one another in their times switched on and off. Train stations have that melancholic feel to them. It makes you wonder, think, and absorb all kinds of emotions — of strangers, objects, abandoned platform benches, and anything the eye can see. Farewell hurts at any train station. It pains the heart but has to happen. You cannot go into the future without saying goodbye. You wish you’d see them again. If you’re lucky, you do see them even after 20 long years.
