Yeah, I was afraid of this…I took a train from VA to FL about 10 years ago. They rerouted us and it took much longer, the toilets backed up and stunk to high heaven for 15 hours! I swore then I’d never ride a train again but I was lured by that other article. Thanks for reminding me what a nightmare train travel can be.
I agree. To make a long story short, and I could be off with some of these details, but this is what I understand Amtrak to be: The government took control of the trains and created Amtrak in the 70s. The government was going to subsidize Amtrak until it became profitable; it never became profitable. Amtrak continues to get trimmed down- less routes…
