Die Schreckensherrschaft der Dilettanten


Seit drei Jahren begegnen mir nun die verärgerten Blogbeiträge von Rezensenten…
I’ve only seen a few posts on Medium that are trollish (in classic Internet fashion one of these was an attack on feminism).
Medium allows anonymity. Trolls often use anonymity to avoid the consequences of their horrible behavior on the Internet. Yet I have not seen a noticeable volume of Trollish posts on Medium.
Interestingly, Ken, within a few days of commenting on your article I picked up a “medium troll,” who you are welcome to check out merely by looking at any of the comments I made on your piece. He commented on every one. No comments on your actual piece, of course.
Marvelous read. I suppose it IS a rant about Trolls, but it could just as easily serve as a chapter in Intro to the Internet: 101. The only thing I would modify if I were brave enough to write an Intro to the Internet course book, would involve the emphasis on potential damage done to ‘life’s work’ versus damage done to ‘life’s passions’. You’re right, but i always think there is something inherently wrong with anyone whose mind jumps to sexual intercourse first when discussing their disdain. Its almost always borderline obsessive hate, as if they’re trying to convince themselves and others by shouting the loudest about how much they disprove. I would consider myself a believer in God…
Sorry not buying this definition, here is why: almost everyone who disagrees with a view can be classified under this category if you’re a bit sloppy about the details..so what you end up saying is that we’re all trolls. Doesn’t hold.
