I wish I was allowed to react. To respond. To be given the grace & understanding to do so, to not always be expected to keep my composure while facing violence, abuse, harassment on a consistent basis. Is reacting often productive? Probably not. Is reacting often helpful? Not really. But…

This is the real red pill, right here. — Once a man truly sees the level of contempt for women that our culture of masculinity trains us into, he can’t ever unsee it. And he starts seeing it everywhere. Maybe that’s why we try so hard to deny it exists. We know what will come next. Grief for all the women in our lives. The very next observation the men must arrive at? That patriarchy is killing boys and men just as readily as it’s killing girls and women and non-binary people. No one thrives in a domination-based culture of masculinity.
