When you are calling to action against the speech of an individual, it ceases to be a dialog.
There’s value in dialog. When you have video footage of people making the claim that people should not say certain things because it offends their sensibilities, it’s a call to censor. There’s a huge difference between the two.
Arlo, Christakis wrote “is there no room anymore for a child or young person to be… offensive?” The fact she’s even writing this implies that she thinks the room has vanished, and thinks the room needs be recreated. So, with that said, I most definitely think her email “suggested that people should feel free to wear culturally insensitive costumes on Halloween”
So butt hurt because some white girls had white party, not sure but if I looked hard enough I’d probably find a black only thing somewhere.
Angsty that some one may wear something that another group of people wear you know like kimono’s that were appropriated from china by the Japanese and now we have something amazing.
I can think of a great many countries that, in their broader nationalistic spirit, believe themselves more egalitarian than the reality of the United States. The trouble being those sensationalist superiority complexes don’t have any real grounding. I don’t know how useful it is to bemoan the state of American affairs because other countries look…
