Trading Cards have been one of taiga’s main Features for quite a long time. We still were a very tiny Community when we released Trading Cards however the amount of Trading Card Packs opened in the first few minutes was outstanding. We had to create 5 Command Channels on the official Discord and there were still multiple people opening Packs in each channel.

With the bot growing and growin we have noticed quite a bunch of flaws in the current Trading Card System which are mostly caused by how much we rushed the release of the Trading Card Update. We learned from this and started to do more and more QA (Quality Assurance) to make sure we deliver Updates that work and are well thought out. This is one of the reasons why we’re planning to overhaul Trading Cards. All current Trading Cards will still be there and you’ll keep your Inventory though.

In the following few 1.0 Subupdates we’ll introduce some smaller QOL (Quality of Life) Improvements like searching your Inventory for specific Cards or Sorting being able to sort them by Rarity, how many People have the card etc.

Because this is definetly not enough we’re proud to reveal the 1.1 Content Update: The Card Overhaul Update.
First of all we want to make the Rarities a bit fairer by adjusting the chances and change the algorythm which chooses the card. In addition to that you’ll be able to buy Rare Card Packs with our new Currency taigagems which will have better Chances for Rarer Cards.
This new Currency will be obtainable by doing Tasks from your daily To-Do List. This List will contain Items such as Voting for the Bot, claiming your Daily Reward, hugging 5 Users, writing 50 Chat Messages and much more. The List will be slightly different each day.

In addition to that, we’re also going to completely revamp the Design of Trading Cards in the 1.1 Update. We’ve made a Prototype on Figma which you can already take a look at!
As you may probably notice, we’ve removed the Description and have replaced them with some other Metadata. This is done because we believe that a Description isn’t really necessary and it’s just way too much work. Finding a Description is one thing, but the other is rewriting it so that it makes sense if you don’t know the anime, doesn’t spoiler anything and fits in the Box well. Especially the last thing is way harder than it sounds. The Metadata we added can be looked up quickly and can even be obtained automatically.

We’re also going to only render the Trading Card Images once and then save them on our CDN (Content Delivery Network) so the images should load super duper fast now!

Development of the 1.1 Update will begin in the following few days together with the 1.0.9 Patch which will probably be the last Patch of the 1.0 Content Update
