December 6th

  • Title: Designing Coherent and Equitable Climate Policies for a Just Transition (Official Side Event)
  • Time: 18:30–20:00 UAE (UTC/GMT +4)
  • Location: SE Room 7 (123 pax)

This event will explore how climate policies can be designed coherently to enable a just transition and ensure that adaptation and mitigation measures account for existing inequalities, address development needs for vulnerable groups, and leave no one behind. Experts will discuss how policy coherence, as a governance mechanism for strengthening interactions between climate change and sustainable development, can manage inequalities stemming from climate policies and achieve a just transition.

There will be two panels — the first on discussing policy and the second on the practical aspects of implementing and cultivating a just transition across different aspects of society. TWYCC’s COP28 delegate Gina Lee(李昀錚) will be part of the 2nd panel, and she’ll share TWYCC’s efforts in advancing just transition in Taiwan through building an environment for social dialogue.

Youth forum and roundtable: What climate issues do youth care about?

This event will have 7–10 youth from around the world to share their experiences and perspectives on climate action, followed by a discussion on successes, challenges, key issues, engaging youth participation, and resources needed to support their work.

TWYCC, along with Cathay Financial Holdings(國泰金融), are co-hosting this event. TWYCC was involved in inviting the youth speakers and will be present to help with the logistics and facilitation of the panel. Besides, TWYCC’s COP28 delegate Shannon Ho(何家璇) will be one of the speakers.

Second Event

  • Time: 13:15–14:45 UAE (UTC/GMT +4)

This event focuses on generational equity. The speakers will first share the impact and collective anxiety experienced by the youth, and the statement for climate emergency voiced by the youth, then explore how businesses can actively respond to their concerns. The forum then provides a platform for businesses to deepen their understanding of the young generation’s climate policy demands. By fostering dialogue and collaboration, this event aims to empower businesses to provide the necessary resources for voicing climate issues from a youth perspective, and empower more young leaders to become practitioners in solving climate problems.

TWYCC’s COP28 delegate Yun-Fang Wu(吳昀芳) will be one of the speakers, with another delegate Jasmine Wu (吳思儀) as the moderator.
