TWYCC Announced a New 3-Year Organizational Strategy

On March 12, 2023, TWYCC hosted its first monthly assembly and discuss the plans to “Communicating Net Nero Among Younger Generations”.

On March 12, 2023, TWYCC hosted its first monthly assembly for the new teams of 2023 to meet each other in person. During the assembly, each team proposed its new plan to achieve TWYCC’s new 3-year organizational strategy (2023–2025) — “communicating net zero among younger generations”, and proposed its new plans for 2023.

This year, TWYCC has set a new 3-year organizational strategy (2023–2025) — “Communicating Net Nero Among Younger Generations”. The previous 3-year organizational strategy (2020–2022), “Mainstreaming Climate Change”, was formulated before Taiwan announced its Net-Zero target by 2050. Since the legalization of the target by the Taiwanese parliament in 2023, TWYCC members believe that it is now time to focus on the government’s implementation plans.

In response to the new strategy, the “Climate Youth Network Team” was reorganized into the “Climate Campaign Team”, with a specific focus on developing youth perspectives on Taiwanese net zero policies.

Now TWYCC comprises six teams: International Affairs Team, Medium Team, Climate Education Project, Social Media Marketing Team, Climate Campaign Team, and Secretariat Team.

The kick-off meeting followed a “Climate Fresk workshop”, which gave members an opportunity to get acquainted with each other and enhance their knowledge of climate science.

After a kick-off meeting and a Climate Fresk workshop, many members reflected on how they thought about the climate crisis and shared the climate actions that they would like to take. In fact, many members joined TWYCC because they wished to take action against climate change with a group of like-minded people — rather than alone — and with an organization that could make a greater impact than an individual.

Joann Cheng, a new member of the Medium Team, shared that by joining TWYCC as her “first step” of climate action, she hoped to “do something to make things better and help avoid the worst consequences of climate change.”

2023 TWYCC new teams met on March 12, 2023, and broke the ice by playing the Climate Fresk game.
