Electric Vehicle (EV) laws vary in every country, yet governments all over the world are all trying to enter the hydrocarbon-fueled cars and EV markets. In Indonesia, President Joko Widodo has urged his minister to complete the e-motorbike regulations to save the import of fuel oil, while Singapore has passed the Active Mobility Regulations in 2018 to manage the increasing use of personal mobility devices (PMDs). Taiwan’s engagement was even earlier, having launched the Smart EV Development Strategy and Action Plan (智慧電動車發展策略與行動方案) in 2014, focusing on electric cars, scooters, and buses.

Behind the formation of EV related policies and regulations in Taiwan is eTreego, a 2-year old startup founded by a group of car-loving engineers with EV control system expertise. It is the pioneer of a total solution for standardized and intelligent EV & e-motorbike DC fast charging, presenting the first e-motorbike charging device in Taiwan compliant with International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) regulations.

Their fast charger takes only 6 minutes to charge a 125cc e-motorbike for a 50-to-60-km ride. The secret is the unbalanced current technology patented by eTreego, which allows the charger to control the charging current in line with the power used by the vehicle users and the current supply of the power grid, significantly decreasing the wait time of bikers and the burden on power companies. Riders can save even more time by using eTreego’s APP through the cloud system to identify the nearest location for the e-motorbike fast charger.

While the world already has many iconic EV makers such as Tesla in the US, and Gogoro in Taiwan, as an e-motorbike power system provider, eTreego is glad to have more company entering the global EV market and sees itself as the law-making supporter regarding the management of PMDs in Taiwan and in other countries. Given the rising global influence of Tesla’s vehicles and power solutions, eTreego believes that it will boost the development of EV markets and regulations in every country and become the best promotion for eTreego upon entering new markets. As international automobile companies like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Ford are all presenting EVs in recent years, governments now have the motivation to formulate regulations, encouraging more innovators to join the market. eTreego will certainly seize the chance to collect users, starting with countries that possess large amounts of motorbikes such as Southeast Asia.

With experience in helping map policies and laws, and on collaborating with power companies and gas stations, eTreego looks forward to initiating its Southeast Asian strategies by consulting governments on making regulations. Along with the environmental issues facing the world, eTreego is ready to collaborate with local power companies, automobile companies, and gas stations with the standardized fast charging equipment, integrating the open API with the existing data management platforms of partners and customizing the design. To bring more traction by setting up more charging stations, eTreego’s APP can create a more effective network of charging points and bikers behaviors, providing positive feedback to the global EV market.

eTreego will be with Taiwan Tech Arena Pavilion in Innovfest Unbound in Singapore on 6/27–28, 2019 at booth number P11. Take a ride with eTreego to discover a new commute fashion. _________________________________________________________________
