A news paper article from The Japan Times mentions Uber Technologies Inc. got a partnership with Fuji Taxi Group.

Uber will provide an app to let customers hail a taxi in Nagoya. At first, the agreement will cover approximately 350 taxies in Nagoya.

Japan is one of the largest taxi’s markets around the world. Its market is about 16 billion dollar. Even though Uber has relegated taxi operators and regulators in the world, Japan has controlled the rules for Uber and other ride-sharing business. So, Uber is used only for high-end limousine services and UberEATs.

However, the other Asian countries around Japan has advanced their car-sharing services and tourism toward Japan will be increased around the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

So car-sharing business is being hot in Japan. A Chinese company Dibi Chuxing has talked with taxi operators in Japan. Also, Sony reveals their alliance with six taxi companies to develop a ride-hailing app.

Uber just launched new rocket with a new partner. Can they win through in Japan?
