Travel like diabetes is a sickness. It’s both infectious and organic and once you catch it — it’s for life. However the prospect of travel can be that much more daunting for a diabetic. The constant management required injects an entirely new dimension that requires the upmost attention and care.

This management can prove difficult even in the comfort and familiarity of one’s own home. Unsurprisingly the task of taking care of yourself when you may face language barriers and an entirely new healthcare system puts many people off.

But fortune truly does favour the bold and with careful planning and diligence, diabetics can take the road head on and enjoy one of life’s most enriching phenomenons.

Take Off is a diabetes-oriented travel blog that hopes to provide some specific information about particular destinations as well as general tips and tricks and things we have found difficult in our journeys.

By detailing key information regarding access to and quality of healthcare, we hope to encourage and embolden diabetics of all ages to put aside any apprehensions and reservations and embrace the road with confidence and peace of mind.
