Year of the Ox Warn: “Paranoia and Ignorance is a Dangerous Combination/They Want to Blame Someone/ So They Aim it at all the Asians”

Year of the Ox

The Coronavirus pandemic is creating uncertainty and panic around the world as the number of infections continue to climb to alarming levels. With the disease originating in Hubei province of China, there’s been a substantial rise in xenophobia against Asian-Americans resulting in a significant increase in hate crimes, isolation and unofficial boycotts of Asian-owned businesses.

As response, when asked by a fan to create a Taki video dissing the coronavirus and the blatant racism facing Asian-Americans, Year of the Ox created a personal and powerful response.

“In these times of panic and paranoia it is predictable that people will start to point fingers and try to find someone to blame but that is the opposite of what our society should be doing. We feel that most people haven’t succumb to this sort of discrimination but there are those who have been blinded by ignorance and racism. We will not sit idle with our mouths closed and we hope that this video will help open the eyes of these people and help spread love instead of anger and hatred,” said Year of the Ox.
