Agatha Christie, an inspiration

A little Belgian man with a waxed moustache sat on his couch and became one of the greatest detectives of all time. Hercule Poirot, with his grey cells and his love for everything tidy, is a character that everyone knows. And his creator is the best-selling novelist in history.

Agatha Christie

Agatha Christie, or, the ‘Queen of crime’, spun stories like wheels on a slope. Her mind, as you will expect, hardly ever rested.

“Plots come to me at such odd moments, when I am walking along the street, or examining a hat shop…suddenly a splendid idea comes into my head”

she says in her autobiography.

But little would we ever dream in our wildest dreams that this established mystery author could have had any problem with what she does best- writing.

“I, myself, was always recognized…as the ‘slow one’ in the family,”

Christie had once said. “It was quite true, and I knew it and accepted it. Writing and spelling were always terribly difficult for me. My letters were without originality. I was…an extraordinarily bad speller and have remained so until this day.”

Agatha Christie is an author who has overcome learning disability to tell the world the tales in her mind.

And she never let her slightly dysfunctional brain bring her down, becoming the best-selling author in history, outsold only by the Holy Bible and Shakespeare.

Now, that is a feat none of the normal writers have achieved yet.

So, you tell me, what brings you down when you write?

Have an idea in your head? Get it out. Don’t let it rot to death in your brain.

Remember Agatha Christie when you think you aren’t good.

Best of Luck!
