Now let’s chat with Maithri Warrier
Q. What motivated you to start writing?
A. I used to always be a storyteller. I loved creating stories about people I see on the street, much to the amusement of my friends. One day I decided to put my thoughts on paper. People around me were very impressed by what I had to say. Motivated by that, I started writing. And have never stopped since.
Q. How was your first writing experience?
A. My first writing experience was when I was around 12. There was an assignment in my English textbook in which we had to write something for our teacher. I wrote a poem for my English teacher. And she loved it and asked me to keep going. It was very motivating.
Q. Your favorite 3 books?
A. A prisoner of Birth by Jeffrey Archer, And then there were none by Agatha Christie, Absolute Power by David Baldacci
Q. Your favorite quote?
A. ‘They buried us, they didn’t know we were seeds’
Q. What is the most important thing required to be a writer?
A. I think an open imagination is something very important. Also, don’t expect everyone to love what you do. And oh yeah, take risks.
Q. Your advice to aspiring writers?
A. The road can be treacherous. But keep working at those stories you want to carve. If you are doing something you love, your heart will never stop doing its happy dance. So keep at it.
