The Human Resources team or HR Managers in general, as we know them, spend much of their time in checking in with employees in order to provide them with the help and support they need to perform their designated jobs.

From handling recruitment to job training to drafting and explanation of employment benefits HR managers wear many hats in an organization. Interestingly, their responsibilities, in many cases, may also include connecting with stakeholders and monitoring various projects that require an HR supervision.

Many HR managers have assumed a strategic partner position in their organizations during the past few decades, which calls for them to be more visible and involved with the business and decision-making on a deeper level, than in the past.

1. Employee Relations Discussions

HR professionals tend to promote a positive work environment by de-escalating tension and giving a fair chance to all individuals to voice their concerns and move together towards solving a problem.

Next time you are stuck on a difficult project or client, just talk and ask. Sometimes it’s the clarity we need while we blame our skills.

2. Performance Management

I remember the last time my performance was way below the expectations of the clients and manager and company standards. I couldn’t thank our HR team more for discussing their realistic expectations and asking me to be a part of the bootcamp team to hone my skills.

Back then, I thought it as a demotion until I received an appreciation with 5 months for my work.

Whenever you feel that you are not able to perform to your best, or not being compensated fairy, or you are not receiving the right feedback, take a step back and revise your basics. If it has helped me, I am sure it will help you as well.

3. Assessing Training and Development Needs

Have you seen how most of the times your organization never asks you to drop a course you want to pursue?

Instead, they organize different learning camps and encourage employees to be a part of it.

This is because they know intelligent employees soar the organization to greater heights.

Do not quit on yourself.

Challenge yourself to take up another course, learn a new language, expand your connections.

4. Explaining and Managing Benefits Programs

Be it information on health insurance, retirement plans, workers’ compensation, tuition aid, benefits enrollment process and other benefits and addressing any queries from staff members, are carried by HR specialists.

Numerous HR specialists are also in charge of overseeing the business’s interactions with other contractors, retirement plan administrators, and insurance companies.

Take an inspiration and plan your investments, insurance and tack your finances.

P.S. We are glad that we have the Human Resources team dedicated for such crucial tasks at workplace. I wish to become a tiny form of this over-performing team on the personal front.
