1. EU Blockchain Observatory Releases Report on Tokenization, AI and IoT

The European Union Blockchain Observatory and Forum released a report entitled “Tokenization of physical assets and the impact of IoT and AI” on April 10. The report, authored by Dr. Tim Weingärtner, a professor at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences & Arts — School for Information Technology, features the “digital twin” concept, which refers to a digital replica of the physical world. This mirror world would consist of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, big data, tokens representing physical objects, blockchain as a trusted ledger and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

2. Mauritius Regulators Formulate Guidelines For Security Token Offerings (STOs)

At a time when security token offerings are fast gaining traction in the cryptospace, with some observers even touting it as a game changer, Mauritius watchdog, the Mauritius Financial Services Commission (FSC) has put in place new laws to govern the issuance of security token in the state, according to reports on April 10, 2019.

3. New York Regulator Rejects Bittrex’s Application for a BitLicense

The New York Department of Financial Services has rejected Bittrex’s application for a BitLicense. The regulator revealed that it has rejected the Seattle-based crypto exchange’s application in a letter recently published on April 10.

4. Coinbase Crypto Exchange Debuts Visa Card for UK Customers

Major American cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has launched Coinbase Card, that enables its United Kingdom-based customers to pay in-store and online with cryptocurrency. The development was announced in a blog post published on April 10.

The Coinbase Card is a Visa debit card powered by customers’ Coinbase account crypto balances, which allows them to make purchases with digital currencies worldwide. Coinbase instantly converts customers’ cryptocurrency funds into fiat currency in order to complete the purchase.

5. South Korea’s Military Acquisitions Agency Plans Blockchain Pilot

The South Korean agency charged with military acquisitions has launched a blockchain pilot project aimed to improve business operations in the defense sector.

The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) announced Wednesday that the effort would involve building a blockchain platform to, among other benefits, prevent “illegal alteration” of defense business data.

7. Singapore Slams OneCoin Promoters Behind Multi-Billion ‘Crypto’ Scam

Singapore has joined a growing list of countries cracking down on the promoters of the multi-billion dollar OneCoin pyramid scheme. The Business Times reports that investigations conducted by the Singapore Police Force (SPF) have resulted in two men being charged for promoting OneCoin cryptocurrency. One of the men also faced another charge of incorporating a firm known as One Concept Pte. The firm was allegedly used multi-level marketing techniques in promoting the fraudulent cryptocurrency.

8. Report: TRON Foundation Has Fastest Growing DApp User Base, ethereum Still Developers’ First Choice

A report released on April 9 by DApp (Decentralized Application) analytics website DApp.com reveals that Tron (TRX) has the fastest growing DApp user base while Ethereum’s (ETH) DApp user base is shrinking.

On the Ethereum chain, there was a 4 percent decrease in the number of DApp users compared to last year. About 72,422 old users are still using Ethereum-based DApps in 2019. Decentralized Exchanges (DEXs) are responsible for more than half of the ETH DApp transaction volume, followed by gambling apps.

9. Texas Regulator Takes ‘Emergency’ Action Against Obvious Crypto Scam

Travis J. Iles, the Securities Commissioner of Texas, isn’t taking any guff from a site called FxBitGlobe. Iles issued an “emergency” cease and desist order to FxBitGlobe, ordering them to quit attempting to do business with anyone in the great State of Texas.

10. Top-Subscribed YouTuber PewDiePie Partners With Blockchain Livestreaming Platform

PewDiePie, the personality behind the most-subscribed channel on YouTube, will start streaming on blockchain video platform DLive as of April 14, the firm announced in a press release on April 9.

DLive, a blockchain-powered broadcasting app that includes a rewards system for content creators, will be “the exclusive livestreaming platform” for famous Swedish YouTuber Felix Kjellberg, better known as PewDiePie, the press release notes.
