1. Brave Browser Users Will Soon Be Able to Tip BAT on Reddit and Vimeo

Those using the popular cryptocurrency-powered Brave browser will soon be able to use its Basic Attention Token (BAT) to tip other users on social media platform Reddit and on the video sharing platform Vimeo.

While Brave itself hasn’t yet published an official announcement on the rollout of these features, Reddit users have found that on its developer version for desktops they’ve already spotted “tip” buttons on their Vimeo and Reddit feeds.

2. ethereum Crosses One Million Transactions

Demand for the ethereum network has increased considerably with it rising now to more than one million transactions a day.

That’s the highest it has been since late December 2017 when ethereum’s price was much higher at about $800 at the time.

3. IMF Says Central Bank-Backed Crypto ‘Could Become Reality’

In its latest report entitled “Five Facts on Fintech,” the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said that based on its research, countries generally foresee the emergence of crypto assets backed by central banks.

The study, which surveyed central banks, finance ministries, and other government agencies in 189 countries, explicitly stated that central bank-backed crypto assets are likely to emerge due to lowering costs and increasing efficiency.

4. Crypto Exchange And XRP Refuge Bitsane Vanishes, Scamming As Many As 246,000 Users

Ireland-based cryptocurrency exchange Bitsane disappeared without a trace last week, likely taking hundreds of thousands of users’ assets with it.

Account holders told Forbes that attempts to withdraw bitcoin, XRP and other cryptocurrencies began failing in May, with Bitsane’s support team writing in emails that withdrawals were “temporarily disabled due to technical reasons.” By June 17, Bitsane’s website was offline and its Twitter and Facebook accounts were deleted. Emails to multiple Bitsane accounts are now returned as undeliverable.

5. Bitcoin, ethereum at Huge Premium in South Korea

A significant premium has developed in South Korea in the past few days, with bitcoin now nearly $1,000 more expensive than elsewhere.

One bitcoin is at about $11,600 — $11,700 on global exchanges at the time of writing. In South Korea, it’s at $12,500

6. Central Bank of Uganda Warns Decentralized Cryptocurrencies Are Risky

The deputy governor of the Bank of Uganda has warned the public about the limited protections offered them when they invest in unregulated cryptocurrencies.

English-language Ugandan daily New Vision reports on June 28 that the bank’s deputy governor — Dr. Louis Kaskende — made his remarks during a Town Hall meeting in the city of Masaka, which was devoted to educating the public about the institution’s activities and role.

7. Reserve Bank of India appears keen on blockchain but not on crypto

It was recently reported that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is developing blockchain technology through its Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT). This is intended to create a decentralized platform for use between banks and the government. While it would appear that the central bank is supportive of blockchain with this initiative, it has historically been hostile towards cryptocurrency.

8. Iran seizes 1,000 Bitcoin mining machines after power spike

Authorities in Iran have seized roughly 1,000 Bitcoin mining machines from two former factories, according to state TV reports.

The action was taken following a spike in electricity consumption.

Demand for power rose by 7% in June and cryptocurrency mining was thought to be the main cause, an energy ministry spokesman told local state-run media.

10. Crypto Apps See Zero Growth as Bitcoin Price Triples This Year

Crypto may not be as hot as you think.

Despite Bitcoin tripling in price this quarter, consumers aren’t any more interested in downloading cryptocurrency applications on their phones and mobile devices than they were in the first half of 2018, when the digital-asset market tanked, according to app tracker App Annie.
