  1. SBI Holding’s Money Tap Announces Agreement Amongst 13 Banks To Accept Investments

SBI Holdings launched a new app called Money Tap Co. Ltd, otherwise known simply as Money Tap, as a way for smartphones to transfer money. The entire program is built on distributed ledger technology that sends transactions quickly and helps to expand cash flow for smartphones, banks, and general users.

On March 28th, the company announced 13 banks that would be accepting investors. This addition makes it possible to transfer money between individuals directly, and also between banks.

2. TRON Foundation acquires first global blockchain app store CoinPlay

Tron Foundation has been proactively promoting blockchain technology. Despite Tron [TRX] being pushed out of the top 10 cryptocurrencies, the Tron Foundation is working to develop the Tron ecosystem. The Foundation’s recent CoinPlay acquisition is one such development.

3. Japan: Largest Railway Company JR East Considers Accepting Crypto For The Whole Nation

Top execs at Mastercard and Wells Fargo agreed that blockchain technology has long-term potential, but it has not been realized to date, CNBC reports on March 28.

Wells Fargo CEO Tim Sloan and Mastercard CEO Ajaypal Banga concurred that the potential of distributed ledger technology (DLT) is yet to pay off, but that there are still no clear business use-cases as of now. The executives made their comments to CNBC at the Fintech Ideas Festival on Wednesday.

Canaan Creative, manufacturer of the Avalon bitcoin miner, is considering another attempt to go public, people familiar with the situation said.

9. Russian Mining Giant to Tokenize Palladium

Russian billionaire Vladimir Potanin is planning to create cryptocurrency tokens backed by palladium, Bloomberg reported on March 27.

Potanin — who is CEO of the Russian nickel and palladium mining and smelting company MMC Norilsk Nickel PJSC (Nornickel) — plans to deploy cryptocurrency tokens for trading palladium through a Switzerland-based palladium fund, and wants to launch several digital platforms.

10. Crypto Gift Cards Can Now Be Used For Reservations on Airbnb

Digital gift cards and mobile phone refill provider Bitrefill has added an option to make Airbnb reservations with cryptocurrency, Bitrefill announced in al tweet on March 27.

Per the announcement, customers can now pay for their bookings with Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Dash (DASH), Litecoin (LTC), and Dogecoin (DOGE). The card is technically a voucher product, meaning that customers purchase a U.S. dollar equivalent for Airbnb with cryptocurrencies and subsequently receive a voucher code to use on the platform. As such, Airbnb itself does not accept or handle the cryptocurrency.
