Following President Trump’s derisive tweet about Bitcoin, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin held a briefing on regulating Bitcoin and Facebook’s Libra because of their use in criminal activity and the threat they pose to the financial system.

2. Facebook’s testimony to Congress: Libra will be regulated by Swiss

The head of Facebook’s blockchain subsidiary Calibra David Marcus has released his prepared testimony before Congress for tomorrow and Wednesday, explaining that the Libra Association will be regulated by the Swiss government because that’s where it’s headquartered. Meanwhile, he says the Libra Association and Facebook’s Calibra wallet intend to comply will all U.S. tax, anti-money laundering and anti-fraud laws.

3. Seed CX’s Subsidiaries Win Two Coveted Bitlicenses in New York

Institutional-focused crypto exchange Seed CX has received a coveted license to deal in cryptocurrencies in New York. Two subsidiaries were each granted a so-called BitLicense by the NY State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS), joining only 20 other companies that were granted this license, which allows to legally operate as a money transmitter and cryptocurrency exchange.

4. Ripple adoption gets another boost after Santander bank launches new payment corridor

Spanish banking giant Banco Santander has announced its One Pay FX, a digital banking app powered by Ripple for cross-border payments, has added a new corridor to its blockchain powered service.

Following an update of the app last week, the iOS app now supports instant payments between the UK and Poland.

5. UK Announces ‘Dirty Money’ Crackdown, Including Tougher Crypto Regime
