  1. Japan’s Biggest Railway Company Is Looking to Accept Cryptocurrency Payments

Japan’s biggest railway and subway operator, the Japan Railways Group (JR Group), is reportedly looking to add cryptocurrency payment options for its users, in a move that could see millions of Japanese individuals use cryptos to pay for transportation.

According to mainstream commercial news network ANN News, the JR Group could establish cryptocurrency payment options through a partnership with a major bank, that could also see it launch a cryptocurrency company, believed to be an exchange.

2. Tron (TRX) Ready To Collaborate With Japanese Government On DApp Sustainability

Tron (TRX) blockchain technology has in a statement today disclosed that it will be partnering with the government of Japan as the country remains one of the world’s favorable regions for blockchain technology.

Tron, in a release tagged “the Promotion of TRON DApp in Japanese Market”, said it will be working hand in hand with the Japanese government to promote the sustainability of Tron DApp in the country’s market.

3. Crypto Exchange Bithumb Hacked for $13 Million in Suspected Insider Job

South Korean crypto exchange Bithumb has had around $13 million in the EOS cryptocurrency stolen in a hack it suspects was an insider job. The company confirmed in statement on Saturday that it first spotted an “abnormal withdrawal” of the cryptocurrency through its monitoring system at 22:00 Korean time (13:00 UTC) on Friday, March 29.

4. Ripple-Backed Startup Reveals New XRP Payments App

The Ripple-backed startup XRPL Labs is developing a new payments app designed to give store owners an easy way to accept XRP. A prototype of the point-of-sale (PoS) system is up and running, and will be tested at an upcoming meetup in The Netherlands. The app is tentatively titled XRPay, although the name will likely change to avoid confusion with a competing platform with the same name.

8. US SEC Delays Decision on Bitcoin ETF Applications From VanEck and Bitwise

The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has delayed its decision on a rule change to the Securities Act that would allow the listing of Bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded funds (ETF). The SEC published its decision in a public notice on March 29.

Bitwise filed its application with NYSE Arca on Feb. 15 under the condition that it would reach a decision in 45 days. Should the commission feel the need to extend that period, it is permitted to extend the review period to 90 days.

9. Japan’s Largest E-Commerce Site Announces Cryptocurrency Exchange Launch Date

Rakuten, the Japan-based e-commerce corporation, has announced an official launch date for its newest addition — a cryptocurrency exchange. Originally named Everybody’s Bitcoin, the newly rebranded Rakuten Wallet will open for business this June.

10. Ethereum Proof of Stake Testnet Launches

The ethereum 2.0 development teams have managed to keep to their target of a Proof of Stake (PoS) testnet launch this March with Nimbus announcing on Thursday the PoS Beacon chain single client testnet is now out. This is a major milestone in the development of Ethereum 2.0, and while stability issues persist and bugs will happen, the fact that we now have a Beacon chain synchronizing across nodes that aren’t necessarily local to each other is a big deal.
