Novel

Without Yes, Without No

Introduction

I am going to try out something here on Medium: publishing a novel I’ve written, chapter by chapter. The extent to which I continue to publish it will depend on the interest my readers have for it. If you like what you’re reading, share it widely with others! You never know, it may even end up being published offline if it gets the right people’s attention.

This story is a day in the life of Henry, who spends his days at Starbucks, trying to figure out what to do with his life after having spent several years in prison for hacking into a bank he was working at. Henry doesn’t take the world seriously, and he isn’t afraid to interfere with people’s lives, challenge people’s beliefs, have affairs, or invent stories to tell people. His wife, a college professor, knows exactly who her husband is and accepts him for it.

In many ways, Henry is the classical trickster — an agent of chaos whose actions and interactions often result in good (but not always), though he’s primarily doing what he’s doing out of mischief and without much thought about what the consequences of his actions are. Art and life become interwoven throughout the novel, with art imitating life and life imitating art — and life and art becoming one.

I do hope you will enjoy my novel. Let me know, whether you do or not. If you have any suggestions, complaints, questions, or offers, feel free to make them in the comments section. Serious comments will be taken seriously.
